The 8 stages of building a house or renovating a house
You’re just 8 steps away from your new home! Here’s Keola’s building process, so you can see the various stages of building a house or renovating your existing house. And remember, we’re here to help you every step of the way throughout the building process, to make it as easy and enjoyable as possible for you.
1. Tell us about your dream home!
When you’ve found a section to build on, and have the drainage information and LIM report, get in touch with us to tell us a little bit about what you have in mind. Once you’ve shared this info with us, we’ll then arrange a meeting with you.
Are you renovating your existing home?

2. A personal consultation
You can tell us about your ideas for your dream home in more detail at this no-obligation free 1 hour consultation. If you’ve already had plans drawn up, bring them along. Or if you’d like us to design your dream home for you, we’ll talk about that at your consultation.
3. House plans
If you’ve already got house plans, we’ll provide you with a detailed quote and proposal, so you can see exactly what’s involved in seeing your dream home become a reality. Otherwise, if you don’t already have house plans, our talented designer will be able to create concepts and designs for your luxury home. Find out more about our house design service.
4. Acceptance and go-ahead
Once you have accepted our fixed price quote in writing, you will be invoiced for the deposit. When your payment has been received, the project starts whirring into action! The detailed drawings will be completed, and Council consents will be lodged. We’ll take care of all the liaison with the Council on your behalf.
5. Building work begins
When the consents are granted by the Council, the construction work commences. This is an exciting stage when we start handcrafting your dream home! You’ll be kept fully informed of how the building work is progressing, and you’ll be able to specify all the interior colours and finishes. Although you’ll have chosen many of these already, you are still able to change your mind if you wish. We’re flexible and here to help you. :)
6. Building work finishes
Once the house building work is complete, the site is cleaned up and the house is cleaned. Your dream home is ready and waiting for you!
7. Sign-off… and enjoy your dream home!
When you have signed-off the project, the final invoice is issued. And remember, Keola provides you with fixed price quotes, so if you haven’t changed the finishes or the plans since the quote was issued, the price you’ll pay is exactly the price you were quoted initially. Once your payment has been received, you can move into your dream home and start living your dream lifestyle!

Sanjesh Lal
After my university studies I worked as a Civil Engineer for ten years with some big-name companies. However, I got bored… the projects that dragged on year after year were getting tedious, and I wanted to build something ‘real’. And I wanted more challenges!
So in mid 2007, I started Keola. Alas, in late 2007 a global recession started. If I wanted a challenge, I sure got one! But I haven’t looked back since.
Sure, there are many challenges in this industry, but I love it. It keeps me entertained. I enjoy solving problems for my clients. I love having fun (life’s too short to live it boring!). And I especially love seeing the look on customers’ faces when their piece of land transforms into their dream home…
The result?
Keola has won several House of the Year Awards along the way. But the part I treasure the most is establishing good relationships with my clients – many of which have become good friends.
