At Made to Matter, everything matters.

Design. Function, Precision. Craftmanship. Sophistication. Integrity. And you. You and your beautiful, bespoke creation matter most of all.

Excellence Matters

Superior, exquisite integrated kitchens, wardrobes and bespoke free-standing furniture are Made to Matter’s specialities. You’ll enjoy furniture-grade flawlessness down to the finest detail.

Sustainability Matters

Sustainably sourced products are especially selected for their low environmental impact. Plus your design will have built-in longevity and inherent restorative qualities.

Reliability Matters Too

Unlike others, close enough is not good enough. You can reliably expect your individual creation to be installed to perfection – and fine-tuned until you’re happy.

Who We Are

Made to Matter was founded by Harrison Tucker and Ben Nicholson in 2018. With their complementary skills, principles and intrinsic love of quality, Harry and Ben soon realised they were cut from the same cloth. Enter Matter. A business that was made to matter from the very beginning.

Harrison Tucker
Harry completed a Bachelor of Design Arts with Honours–Furniture in 2013, then furthered his studies in Japan where he was mentored by master craftsman Izaki Masaharu in Aichi Prefecture for 2 years.

Ben Nicholson
Ben completed a Bachelor of Industrial Design at Newcastle University in 2013, then worked professionally as an Industrial Designer within the furniture industry where he developed a passion for furniture design.

Our Values

Ethos

Matter was founded to create unique, furniture-grade cabinetry that exceeds your expectations

Sustainability

It matters. To be part of your built environment, you’ll want an environmentally sound creation too.

Local Community

Matter has the trust and support of local manufacturers of almost any material imaginable.

Our Services

Designing, constructing and finishing all happen at Matter’s workshop located in Sydney’s Inner West. Predominantly, Matter works with solid timber and timber panels but will also use almost any material imaginable, sourced locally from Matter’s trusted suppliers.

Architects. Interior Designers. Builders.

Matter will manufacture to your supplied drawings, or liaise with you to design and document your project from the ground up.

Sharp blades. Deep Knowledge. Perfect finishes.

Matter brings you the training and exactitude of hand-made, bespoke furniture-making – plus the efficiencies of computer aided machinery for larger projects when required.

Listening Matters

Cabinetry, done beautifully, can transform a room. That’s why Matter spends more time with you up front, listens longer, asks more questions, and gets to know your vision in detail before returning with designs that delight, instead of disappoint.

Savings Matter

Matter can streamline your project. Rather than getting involved after lock-up (and, sadly, for some home renovators, fixing imperfections left by others), it is far smarter to engage Matter at the early stages of your build. You can save on double-handling, lost time and hidden costs, and look forward to a trouble-free end result.

1 / 5

“I had my heart set on a plywood kitchen with a very specific layout to suit my needs. I wanted a kitchen where every surface was only an arm‘s length away and every drawer was proportioned on its occupants. Ben and Harry, who are both charming and good communicators, worked extraordinarily diligently to bring my plans to fruition and suggested excellent improvements to the design along the way. Their attention to detail and quality is evident throughout my kitchen and it ties into my old workers' cottage seamlessly. I am in love with the result and my kitchen is a pleasure to use every day. As well as being wonderfully functional it is lovely to look at and easy to cook in.”
