Material Creative

Liv Patience and Toni Brandso met at University and brought their distinct design backgrounds together to form Material Creative, igniting an appetite for creating unexpected spaces. With our talented team of interior designers, technicians and administrators we aim to provide you with the most professional service and benefits of our collective variety of skills.

Our aspiration is to create spaces that resonate with people, integrating strong idea integrity that isn’t driven by trends, to tell a unique story for each client. We believe in authenticity and this resonates in the creation of inspired interiors across residential and commercial projects. It's important to us that every project we complete has a hand crafted element. Working with talented artists and craftspeople adds a human touch to our spaces. We have long standing and strong relationships with a wide range of suppliers, consultants, engineers, branding specialists, signage manufacturers etc.

Our services include taking a project from concept to completion:
+    PRE DESIGN
We identify our Client’s requirements by conducting a thorough briefing, to enable subsequent design phases to be undertaken. At this stage a check measure is undertaken of the chosen site.

+    CONCEPT DESIGN
Our strength lies in creating a strong idea to tell a unique story for each project. Our unexpected design aesthetic sets us apart, creating value for our clients. This stage involves the preparation of a concept that address’ our Client’s brief and relevant local authority requirements

+    DEVELOPED DESIGN
The development from an approved Concept Design. We continually ask throughout this process “Is this unexpected? Is this different, or have we seen this before? How can we push the boundaries and design something more innovative and compelling?”.

+    DETAILED DESIGN DOCUMENTATION
This stage involves detailing the design to a level for submission to the relevant local authorities for consent. At this stage we assist in the engagement of consultants/engineers required to undertake proposed design works.

+    CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION
Involves the preparation of drawings and specifications to allow the project to go out to tender / pricing and construction.

+    ONSITE ATTENDANCE & AFTER CARE
We can observe construction to ensure the design intent is followed through on site to keep you informed of progress and issues, and identify defects for correction through to project completion. We can liaise with tradesmen and consultants and review contractor shop drawings for construction.

+    FF&E AND CURATION OF FURNITURE
We provide a list of items to complete and complement the space along with a schedule including product name, supplier, size, finish, price and lead-time. We can then place orders, procure items and oversee delivery.

Our drive to contribute to better quality of life doesn’t just stop with the interiors we create. We work alongside Habitat for Humanity New Zealand, a not-for-profit organisation that works in partnership with people of goodwill and families in housing need, to eliminate sub-standard housing.  For more information about how we are supporting Habitat for Humanity and to assist us, please email us and to learn more about Habitat for Humanity, click here.
