Mike Owens Building Ltd was launched in 2009 by Mike and Kim Owens. Mike has been working in the building industry for over 18 years and carpentry work has always been his passion.
He personally manages every job to ensure top quality workmanship every time and will work with you every step of the way during your project. His small team of off-site staff working behind the scenes means every job runs smoothly, on time and on budget.
Mike Owens Building Ltd are members of NZ Master Builders and are also licensed building practitioners, so you know you're in safe hands.

What does it mean to be a certified builder?
New Zealand Certified Builders are the only builder association in New Zealand with strict entry criteria. Builders must be qualified carpenters and have a history of stability and sucess. We undergo regular training to ensure we are up to date with the latest building techniques. We are also backed by the Halo Residential Guarantee. Your in safe hands!
What is the Halo Residential Guarauntee?
This is New Zealand's most comprehansive building guarantee for projects over $30,000. You will be covered for:
- loss of deposit.
- extra costs to complete dwelling.
- structural defects for 10 years including weather tightness.
- non-structural defects for 10 years.
This is only avaliable to clients building with NZ Certified builders.
How do you keep me up to date?
We have invested in the latest software in communication. This allows us to keep you up to date with your building project. At any time you can check on the time frame, budget and know exactly what is going on. All from your smart phone! We will send you regular photos too.
Can you offer me a fixed price?
Yes! We can give you a fixed price on your consented plans or other building project.
There are a number of contract options you can choose from .
Fixed price. Cost plus margin. Fixed price labour only.
We will go through all this with you and find a contract which best suits you and your needs.
Can I still make changes if I have a fixed price?
Of course. Its as simple as us filling out a variation form on co construct. We will then email it to you you to make sure your happy with the changes. Sign it and email it back to us.
Can we contact you before the design stage starts?
Absolutely, we can advise and assist you with all aspects of the building process.
We have several architects and designers who we work with on a regular basis and we are happy to help find the one that is right for you.
I already have a designer. Will you work with them throughout the build?
Of course. Our online system will also keep you informed of any communication between us and your designer.
