Sandy Anghie Architect

Sandy has 25 years’ experience across diverse fields, starting her career as a lawyer in 1997 before returning to the University of Western Australia in 2006 to pursue her passion and become an architect. Prior to starting her own architecture practice in 2015, Sandy gained experience in a wide range of architecture roles, including the Office of Government Architect, Syrinx Environmental and Hassell. Now, in addition to running her architecture practice, Sandy is the editor of "The Architect" magazine and has created a directory called "Meet the Architect" to help people find an architect in Perth.

Sandy is also President of the WA Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects, Australia’s peak body for architecture, and a Councillor at the City of Perth.

Sandy is the recipient of two awards in recognition of her contribution to architecture.

In 2020 Sandy was awarded the Australian Institute of Architects - WA Emerging Architect Prize in recognition of her leadership and contribution to the promotion of architecture within the community. ⁠

In 2018 Sandy was awarded the National Association of Women in Construction Social Responsibility in Construction Award. The award recognizes the achievements of an outstanding woman who has shown significant commitment to others or a social cause within the construction industry. Sandy received the award for her work in leading the urban revitalisation project “Historic Heart”, which looked at the revitalisation of the east end of the Perth CBD through the implementation of social and cultural initiatives with the city’s major stakeholders.
