Dear Slate,

We would like to sincerely thank you for the amazing job you have done in building our home. Building a house was a completely new experience for us, and one we entered with a great deal of anxiety and nervousness, as we weren’t sure what to expect and feared that something might go wrong. We needn’t have worried at all; Slate made the entire experience a wonderful one.

From the very beginning, we appreciated Luke taking the time to drive us around previously completed homes so we could see firsthand the level of craftsmanship we could expect. This immediately gave us confidence and reassured us that our experience would be personalised and that we were genuinely valued as clients. We had made some preliminary enquiries with other companies, but often felt like we were just another number. With Slate, that was never the case.

Luke was exceptional throughout the process, maintaining regular contact, helping us plan our build, and always making time to meet with us whenever we needed. We were especially grateful for the understanding and lack of pressure when our previous house took longer than expected to sell. Being able to pause payments without any stress or concern made a huge difference and truly eased the pressure on us. From the outset, we felt supported and cared for.

One aspect we especially valued was having a fixed build price. This gave us great peace of mind throughout the process, and we were extremely impressed that the final cost came out exactly on budget. Where refunds were required, these were processed promptly and without any hassle, further reinforcing our trust in Slate’s transparency and professionalism.

This level of personalisation continued throughout the build. Communication was consistently excellent, and any adjustments we requested were always met with a positive and accommodating “no problem, we can do that” attitude. Brett, as our project manager, was outstanding. He was friendly, approachable, and incredibly accommodating, which made the entire process feel smooth and stress-free. Brett continually pushed the build forward, kept everything on track, and ensured progress was always being made.

Whenever amendments or changes were required, Brett took the time to fully explain all available options and provided clear, detailed information and quotes, allowing us to make informed decisions with complete confidence. At no point did we feel rushed or uncertain, and we always felt that our best interests were a priority.

The level of workmanship throughout the build was of a very high standard and fully met, if not exceeded, our expectations. After hearing many horror stories from friends about their own building experiences, we can honestly say that our experience with Slate has been nothing but positive. In fact, we were a little sad when the project was completed, as we genuinely enjoyed the journey so much.

Should we ever build again, we will definitely be calling Slate again.

Overall, we ended up with the house we wanted and by and large the process was good.

June 2025 marked two years in the house and there have been zero issues. So, the quality of the workmanship and build is holding up. No complaints at all.

I've always thought that building a house could get overwhelming with all the decisions you have to make. 

Well Slate Architecture & Construction made this super easy. It's been such a seamless, stress free project. 

Hands down I'll be using Slate Architecture & Construction again.

Was pretty much as smooth sailing process, the guys at BuildtechNZ and all the tradies they are use are awesome bunch of people, they use a lot of local trades which is awesome!!! we had a budget and we knew what we wanted, Buildtech were awesome, they made it all fit nicely, there was no overhead cost either, I really love my house thanks heaps.

We work with Nick and his team on a regular basis to design and specify interior joinery layouts and finishes throughout the homes.  

There is a similar approach of function that flows through their designs that we share. Its great to work with architects that really care about creating homes that function at a high level for the people that live in them, as well as being visually appealing.  

The approach of creating space with the human experience at the forefront simply creates better homes today and into the future.

Nick is a wonderful architect, he helped us design our latest build and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. We look forward to working with him in the future.

We were looking to build our first home last year, and came across Buildtech's website. From the first contact we had until we moved in everything ran smoothly and either on time or ahead of schedule. From breaking ground, till moving in took 4 months - with a 3 week Christmas break in the middle which was faster than expected. They quality of the work was also exceptional. They modified the plans a number of items to suit our needs and budget to make the house perfect for us. I would definitely use Buildtech again and recommend them to any looking to build a house.

Buildtech were with me every step of the way with my house build. They helped me with my concerns and gave me the confidence to commit to the section purchase, helped me design the exact right place for me and my section and then delivered exactly what I asked for for the price agreed and above the standard expected. They have such a positive problem solving attitude. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

The Buildtech promise of 'zero cost overruns guaranteed’ caught our attention. On engaging with the project manager, we found that the build cost was very competitive, we found the team to be very professional, their attention to detail was impeccable, along with prompt communications. All sub-contractors were of an excellent quality. Any challenges that came up during the entire project were attended to immediately and with a minimum of fuss and to our complete satisfaction. The overall project cost came to 1.5% above original quote and that was entirely made up of upgrades we chose to add in. There was not $1 cost overrun! Nothing. We would use them again today!

Buildtech helped us build our very first home and they were amazing. Bert made us feel we had complete control of the build from the start. Any questions or changes we had he made it happen. Buildtech were reliable, professional and created our dream home. We definitely recommend.

Nick was awesome to deal with. Connected and communicated with us on a level we could understand and helped us design the house we wanted. He was able to guide us into making the right decisions based on style, cost , and practicality.

Nick has done an amazing job for us, showing great understanding of our needs and translating this onto a plan from Concept through to consent. 

Right through this process we have been confident of his workmanship and thorough grasp of the result we were looking for, and his advice on all areas of the project has been very helpful. 

Overall it has been a pain-free process, and very timely - only 5 months from starting the initial concept to consent ready plans.
