About us

STUDIOLUXICON IS AN INTERIOR DESIGN STUDIOOver the last 14+ years of being an Interior Designer, I have worked in both Hong Kong and Australia.

I have loved keeping the connections between the two and have enjoyed creating - whether it be writing on blogs, taking photos, curating my store, making 3D images and, of course, creating interiors. There is just something inside me that just keeps on going!

INTERIOR DESIGN IS WHAT I DO & WHAT I LOVE! I COULDN'T IMAGINE DOING ANYTHING ELSE.

I enjoy every day and the challenge of pushing myself creatively. From drawing my designs by hand & digitally, to choosing fixtures & fittings, filling out a product schedule, walking through a site & hearing the music of power tools- the interior design process is full of exciting possibilities.

Based in Berry in the beautiful Shoalhaven, we serve the South Coast, Southern Highlands & Sydney

My Story

I’ve been obsessed with design since a very young age. I started my chair collection at age 15 with the acquisition of a Panton Cone chair which I still love. I honed my eye at Christies in London, one of the leading auction houses of the world, specialising in Decorative Arts of the 20C.

My interior design practice was formed in 2012 in Hong Kong with a vision of combining interesting materials and textures with my love of the decorative arts to create unique spaces. In addition, I ran the design store ECLECTIC COOL, which stocked brands such as GUBI, Normann Copenhagen, Armadillo Rugs and Dinosaur Designs to name a few.

I loved running my store. It has allowed me to build a network of local and international artisans and trusted suppliers from Australia to Europe and the US, as well as Asia. I am able to source the perfect piece to create beautiful, cohesive interiors and give your interior personality and distinction.

My Philosophy

We live for the good things in life.

I approach my designs with my clients as active collaborators, combining their lifestyles and memories with my design skills.

No matter what the size, scale, scope of the project or budget I take pride in my personal service, designing for the long term. I love to unravel the lives of my clients, researching how they live and interact with all around them.

My projects are warm and have a lived-in feel. I source beautiful & quality fabrics and decorative items from around the world. I love juxtaposing items from different eras, combining them with light and colour to create volume, space and interest. From lighting to furniture, everything down to the hardware and electricals is carefully considered, creating a cohesive but unexpected look and feel.

An interior that fosters deeper connections, creativity and harmony, curated with flair & originality is my goal.

Our Process

INiTIAL DESIGN CONSULTATION
Our design process begins with our Design Consultation. We want to help you create beautiful interiors, and a maximum 2-hour appointment on-site allows us to meet and discuss our approach to your interior. It is your opportunity to receive actionable advice and to see if we’re right for each other. The fee for this service is $700 +GST.

At Studio Luxicon, our goal is the make the design-build process an easy and enjoyable one for our clients. A simple and clear four-phase process is a part of how we achieve this.

PHASE 1: DESIGN CONCEPT & DEVELOPMENT

The Consultation

In order to start the design process, we begin with an obligation-free 2-hour design consultation. This consultation is offered at a fee and consists of a meeting, usually on-site, where we may review existing plans, recommend finishes, furniture and textiles, create a budget for your project and advise on how to best proceed. At the end of this consultation, we will have a thorough scope of work defined for your project. This consultation is an opportunity to get to know Studio Luxicon and how we work. It will allow us to provide a detailed proposal.

The Proposal

We will compile a Proposal detailing the next steps including design pricing and suggestions as to how we may proceed. Once this is accepted and finalised we can begin our conceptual process.

Design, Research & Presentation

Studio Luxicon will attend the site to measure and then create a model of the existing site. Space planning will ensure that the design reflects your needs. Preliminary concepts for interior design and finishes, suggestions for furniture, fixtures and fittings will be presented using style scapes and mood boards as well as physical samples. 3d renderings of spaces will also be presented.

PHASE 2: DESIGN DOCUMENTATION

Plans, Elevations & Lighting

From our design concept, we develop detailed plans, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, details and sketches as required by the design. We will prepare a detailed presentation which can then be sent to builders and suppliers for a quotation.

PHASE 3: CONSTRUCTION

Project Implementation

Our experience with managing projects allows us to coordinate contractors, trades and suppliers in order to bring the design to life. We pride ourselves on our hands-on approach and we help you every step of the way.

PHASE 4: FURNITURE, STYLING & COMPLETION

Installation & Finishing Touches

Our concept for furniture, soft furnishings, art and accessories will be undertaken concurrently with Phase 1. We may utilise existing pieces as well as suggest, source and order those special items that bring the project together. We are happy to help you coordinate the installation of these pieces as well as style your space.

FAQs

How can I know if we will be a good fit?
Choosing someone to design your space can be daunting. You have to put your trust in someone to get it right. Our thorough and comprehensive design process gives you confidence that you are in good hands. We will discuss & ideate every aspect of your space compiling a scheme that will take into account your individual needs.

How do you charge?
Fees are an important consideration in our process. After we discuss your needs and requirements and build a full scope of work together, we will assess your project by the time we believe that it will take and its complexity. We will furnish you will a fixed fee for our design services for the scope of works which have been discussed.

Your initial consultation of 2 hours will be billed prior to our meeting. Site visits, trade meetings, client meetings, and showroom visits will be charged at our hourly rate, invoiced in advance in 20-hour blocks.

We keep detailed timesheets which will be provided to you monthly or as requested.

Any changes in the project scope will be charged at a fixed fee after we have discussed the changes that are being made.

When should I engage a designer?
Our design process takes around 6 to 12 weeks to complete from our initial meeting to design documentation depending on the size of the project. This is a big investment and we wouldn’t want to rush the creative process. Engage a designer at least 6 to 12 months before you would like to start construction.

What is the 'design process'?
The design process takes a number of weeks to complete. It comprises our initial meeting, further client meetings and briefings, the conceptualisation of design, initial budgets and meetings with relevant trades. After this stage, we will refine our designs, select materials, fixtures and fittings, revise budgets and present the final design. Then we enter into the documentation stage where we develop our design into detailed drawings, produce schedules and present the final package of drawings.

Do you manage the project?
Your chosen builder will manage the site and its construction. They will engage relevant tradespeople with your approval. We can meet with tradespeople at any stage of the project if you wish to ensure the design intent is carried out throughout the project. We can order fixtures and fittings on your behalf and manage their installation if you wish.

What documentation do you provide?
Our documentation package will include floor plans, elevations and design details and lighting and electrical plans. We will provide 3D renders of chosen spaces so you can visualise the design intent.

If you would like to complete structural changes we will engage an architect or building designer and/or professionals such as surveyors, engineers and landscape designers as necessary.

Schedules for all fixtures, fittings and finishes are produced as part of the design process.

Can I benefit from trade pricing?
Yes, we help you access trade pricing. Sourcing and ordering will be charged at an hourly rate and the full trade discounts will be passed on to you.

How do we communicate with each other?
The initial consultation will be in person, preferably on-site. Further meetings will take place in person or via zoom if necessary. All meetings will take place during working hours - AEST 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

We provide you with a client portal that will give you access to follow our design process. Client discussions will be completed through Slack. Minutes of meetings ( in person or via zoom) will be posted on the client portal.
