About

The Barking Axe is a family run company that produces custom woodwork, joinery & furniture  

Our focus is on one of a kind pieces including custom built ins, unique furniture, staircases and anything that requires a woodworker from concept and design to installation. We also excel in elements of metal work integrated into our projects.

Our range is quite large as we do small joinery projects as well as large scale shop fitting and feature walls. From farmhouse to modern, we cater to every aesthetic and style. 

We are an Australian based company that was first established in Canada in 2017 with a focus on bringing quality and custom craftsmanship that stands the test of time. Our name comes from one of the tools used by lumberjacks to strip bark off of logs in the early 1900's. Companies would pay more for peeled lumber, thus making this particular axe an important blade in the lumberjacks repertoire.
