The Thistle story began in Scotland in 1999 when a talented young builder, Simon Griffith, won apprentice of the year.

His very first project was an old Scottish school built in 1894 and falling to bits. The joy of bringing that old school house back to life had Simon hooked.

Returning to New Zealand in 2007 with Sophie and his two wee Scottish boys, Simon and Sophie had the opportunity to create Thistle Building Company. Simons continued passion for building, and their combined drive to continually improve Thistle, has been a thrilling journey.

Today, Thistle continues to grow from strength to strength, and is now recognised as one of the Wairarapas leading building companies.

At Thistle at no time will you be left in the dark during the build. You’ll have constant contact with our Project Manager with any questions or queries you have on your home. This ensures you are up to date and informed about where the team is at and you can relax knowing everything is operating smoothly.

Concerned with the build going over budget? Don’t be, we adhere to our work on what we quoted you so you know how much your dream home will cost you without the fear of any nasty surprises ruining the process. Any variations you want throughout the build will be priced and sent to you for your approval before any work begins.

We guarantee that only certified builders will be working on your home throughout the build, and with our 678-point Quality Assurance Checklist we can adhere to the highest quality of standards.

Our aim is to make the build process run as smooth as possible. Here’s how we do it…

STEP 1 – INTRODUCTION

We will follow your enquiry to discuss your desires and needs for your new home. If we can give you the right service to complete the project, we’ll schedule a meeting in person.

STEP 2 – MEETING IN PERSON

This is where we will go in-depth about the vision you have for your home. We’ll define what’s important for yourself and your family, your budget, the timeframe and desire for what you what with your home.

STEP 3 – DESIGN AND CONCEPT

Whether its one of Thistle’s Architectural plans we can customise, or your own plans, we make the design process easy for you.

STEP 4 – FINALIZE THE PAPERWORK

After all of the relevant designs and documents have been signed off, a quote is then finalized. Start and finish dates are also included to give clarity on a timeline when you can expect to have your home completed.

STEP 5 – ALL SYSTEMS ARE GO

The project will then begin while maintaining constant communication with you, any alterations you request during the build are priced up and confirmed with you.

STEP 6 – CONGRATULATIONS!

Your stunning new home is completed and you can begin a new exciting chapter of your life. We will have your new home professionally cleaned and tidy ready for you to move in… and celebrate in style!
