Deb Meyer – My story
How family shaped my design practice?
I grew up in a close Sydney family learning the importance of strong friendships & family relationships. These are the values that have shaped my design practice.
My father is a retired GP & my mother owned an outdoor furniture business. They taught the love of humanity and appreciation for the design aesthetic.
Why I started Vogue & Vine?
I had designed a number of my own gardens and studied landscape design. It was time for me to grow wings and fly in an industry that I love.
What did you do before starting Vogue & Vine?
1992 – Won a prestigious acting scholarship at Sydney’s Ensemble Theatre. My creativity was unleashed.
1998 – Designed my first garden in our first home. Filled in the swimming pool to create a family friendly escape, becoming the centre of family life.
2002 – Moved to a character Californian bungalow with a huge 'original' garden. Created a 280 sqm lifestyle space featuring day bed, water feature & 'tropical forest zone'. Discovered how clever garden design created a magnet for family & friends. Still one of my favourite gardens!
2005 – On the move again to a renovated house on Sydney’s Eastern coastline. Designed & installed my first coastal back garden with new pool, built in seating and coastal planting. Discovered my love of corten steel with an organic shaped front garden. Suddenly neighbours & passers by started knocking on the door asking me to design their gardens.
2008 – 2012 – Studied Horticulture & Landscape Design at Ryde TAFE. Formalising my passion for garden design.
2012 – 2019 – Took on design projects for friends while raising my 3 children. The garden design fire inside me was burning.
2019 – today – Vogue & Vine was born.
Enthusiasm and passion for plants and design grows & evolves. Vogue & Vine designed gardens spread from the Eastern Suburbs to other parts of Sydney. Shaping how people live outdoors.
2023 – My husband Anthony joins Vogue & Vine as Head of Marketing & Operations. Helping our family run business take off.
Today – A growing demand for our brand and a design awards from the Landscape Design Institute.

Garden Design Process
1. On Site Consultation
Meet & discuss your new garden. Discuss ideas and introduce creative new concepts.
Brief - Develop your broad outdoor interests, how you entertain and how you would like to use the space for outdoor living.
Images – Prepare images of gardens you like - helping to guide the design process.
Budget – Budget is a big factor that guides design. We quickly put numbers to ideas in a matter of minutes to fast track the garden design process.
End Proposal – With a thorough understanding of your brief and new ideas, we forward you a proposal.
2. Proposal & Quote
If you would like Vogue & Vine to design your garden, we will send you a fee proposal to prepare your design plan
The proposal clearly outlines a checklist of what we include to move forward with design.
3. Design Concept Plans
Your design concept plans are created after the fee proposal. This includes:
- Confirm the brief and do a thorough on-site analysis.
- Scaled plans of the site.
- Sketched design concepts.
- Design concepts discussed & present a mood board with suggested plants, pots, materials and other styling suggestions.
- Present final concepts including 2D plan, planting plan & schedules.
- Liaise with landscape contractors to arrange an installation quote.
4. Sourcing & Plants
We source plants from reputable nurseries. Other furniture & styling products are sourced & supplied. Including outdoor furniture, pots and planters, outdoor rugs, screens, mirrors, water features or wall art.
Sourcing and procurement is either incorporated into our design fee OR offered as a standalone service.
