By Mason & Wales Architects
Situated on the Otago Coast just north of Dunedin at Doctors Point, the Retreat overlooks the tidal inlet of Blueskin Bay from an elevated bush clad site.
The retreat is sited to sit along side a very special grove of Kanuka trees and overlooks the Bay.
The side walls of the Retreat are angulated to allow the interior and exterior spaces to interact and engage with what is a living sculpture garden of twisting Kanuka trees.
The structures of the Retreat are crafted entirely of wood with varying forms and construction detailing that align with the separate functions of each building.
The Retreat offers an intriguing and peaceful place to be, contained within an exquisite coastal bush setting, overlooking the Inlet of Blueskin Bay.
