The design of the Caravonica State School sports hall has been created to complement the existing architectural character of the school and surrounding area. Appropriate, economical and contemporary materials were used to create engaging, decorative design details. For example, plywood panelling on the proscenium was used to create a feature wall. To maximise interior space for safe sporting activities, exposed structural columns of bold red feature on the building’s exterior.

Louvres allow over 50% of the walls to open up, maximising cross ventilation. Large awnings and overhangs are used throughout the design to provide adequate shading.
