Killester College – Performing Arts and Music Learning Facility – Springvale

Killester College’s striking new Performing Arts and Music Learning Facility, was designed to support the school’s flourishing arts curriculum through the provision of a dynamic learning and performance environment. The new building and surrounding landscape works complement the existing campus and provide a purposeful addition to the school.

A new social heart for the school that emphasises connectivity across the campus

The vision for this project centred on providing active learning spaces that support a range of energetic activities occurring side by side while allowing for instruments, sets, costumes and props to be easily manoeuvred throughout the building. The centre is made up of a range of technologically rich and acoustically attenuated spaces where both function and access were highly considered.

Externally, the building is a striking addition to the existing campus. It provides a fitting counterpoint and dramatic response with its highly engineered large format glazing, feature fins, louvred windows and a brick facade that reflects the building’s function through a rhythmic composition of patterned brickwork.

The centre is a vibrant, welcoming and engaging built environment, where students can embrace the learning experience and performing arts can be celebrated and enjoyed by all students.
