Leigh Hopper (managing director of Hopper Developments and director of Whitianga Waterways) saw an opportunity when he, in 1996, flew over Whitianga. He saw the vision of a canal development housing 1500-plus homes, retirement villages, big box stores and boutique retail, marine servicing, a medical centre, and a hotel.

As part of this on-going development, "Dockside", situated at the entrance to Whitianga and the bridge entrance to Motu Wai Taha Island, is an architecturally designed mixed-use retail/commercial space, mimicking the look and feel of a boat shed with high (40 degree pitch) vaulted roof spaces as an architectural feature.

Peninsula Roofing and Scaffolding Ltd are delighted to work with Latham Construction Ltd on Stage one, which includes a Restaurant / Bar and Office space. 

Latham Construction Ltd have endeavoured to use a local supply chain in this build and Peninsula Scaffolding Ltd provided Scaffolding (including perimeter, staircase and birdcage scaffold) and Temporary Fencing. 

Peninsula Roofing Ltd supplied and installed Steel & Tube COLORSTEEL ® Maxx 0.55mm 500 Euroline Seamlok roofing and vertical cladding in "Ironsand". We manufactured bespoke flashings on our 6.0 metre max length folding machine. The guttering was Roofing Industries 160 Half Round Magnaflow also in "Ironsand".

Downpipes were coloured match and are Marley RP80 Stratus 80mm 3m "Ironsand".
