Even a broken lift didn't deter designer Sean Monk and the joinery team from Custom Kitchens having this free-standing kitchen installed in the iconic Farmers building top floor apartment in time for its feature slot on Grand Designs NZ.

The kitchen was constructed in modules and clad in the heavily textured Prime Art Veneer - American White Oak. The planked Rustic finish was given an additional bandsawn look thanks to a unique brushing process developed by Prime Panels. A dark stain was used to give the kitchen added impact and highlight the grain and knots even further.

Three days into the installation the lift failed, meaning a hard job hauling the remaining cabinetry up two flights of stairs. The end result was clearly worth it with a finished kitchen that works beautifully with the surrounding industrial vibe.
