This residential garden in Wellington’s eastern suburbs was designed to create more functional spaces for the family, connecting the garden to the house and utilising all the available area. The brief was to enhance the coastal, Mediterranean feel of the property and retain existing trees where possible – including Fig, Citrus, Apple and Puriri. The garden had two distinct areas – the area to the north where a new outdoor living space including fireplace was created, adjacent to a levelled lawn area and deck. On the Southern end of the garden, a new play area, vegetable gardens and utility spaces were developed. Fencing the street frontage and created contained areas for small children was a priority.
