A contemporary intersection project at Hawkes Bay Airport, completed in 2019, that prioritizes ecological preservation and has received multiple awards for its commitment to environmental sustainability within the Westshore Wildlife Reserve.
Hawkes Bay Airport and Watchman Road Intersection is a project that goes beyond a simple roading solution. Located within the Westshore Wildlife Reserve, this delicate natural habitat required careful consideration of ecological, cultural, landscape, land use, visual, and transport impacts. Our project team at South Pacific Landscapes made it a priority to protect and enhance the wetland area and its diverse biodiversity, which includes over 70 bird species and essential habitats for eels, fish, and shellfish.
The year of completion for this project was 2019, recognised for its excellence, the project has received accolades such as Best Revegetation Project of the year and Revegetation & Planting Project Gold from Registered Master Landscapers in 2019. These awards highlight the commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable landscaping practices.
