Winner of the Master Builders Queensland President's Award 2025, Illalangi is a contemporary take on the classic country homestead, perched in the Scenic Rim and designed by Invilla Architecture to embrace uninterrupted views across rolling hills and open skies. Built on a remote site without access to power, water or services, the home now operates entirely off-grid through solar, battery storage and rainwater collection, self-sufficiency resolved through design rather than compromise. White weatherboard, gabled rooflines and a wrap-around verandah ground the home in its rural setting, while expansive windows flood the interiors with natural light and connect every room to the landscape. Open-plan living areas flow effortlessly to the outdoors, from the covered deck with its outdoor kitchen to the glass-walled pool and sunken fire pit, making the most of the location while offering a genuine sense of retreat.
