The brief called for a bold family home to counter the traditional lifestyle block dwelling. Aesthetically, a ‘T’ shaped plan allows the home to spread and connect with the site as a low horizontal form referencing the openness of the rural environment. Practically the ‘T’ shape affords views all sides of the living wing, provides shelter to the outdoor living and separates the bedrooms and master wing via central garaging.

Kris and the team at Design House were given a simple brief from us, to design a home that was stunning, extremely effective for family living, and able to fit well within the rural environment. We feel this was achieved through creativity, design experience and effective communication. The layout showcases the views, and has provided us with wonderful entertaining areas and unique design features. We are thrilled with the result!

The plan has a completeness and is well resolved with separation of entertainment areas and private sleeping areas. This is a project where symmetry works well to provide order in an otherwise informal and casual landscape arrangement.
