By The Plant People
We’re delivering premium garden maintenance, turf care and revegetation for Auckland’s most stunning waterfront community.
The Plant People’s Mo Asraf, Head Gardener (Launch Bay), is based full-time at Launch Bay, Hobsonville Point. Going beyond quality control with our landscape maintenance team on the ground, Mo’s role extends to communicating with Matt Gin, Development and Investment Analyst at Winton. Mo ensures that The Plant People deliver the highest quality commercial garden maintenance service befitting the sought after waterfront development.
Once a landmark military airfield and seaplane base, Hobsonville Point encompasses 185 hectares of stunning land nestled deep within the Waitemata harbour. A thoroughly thought-out masterplan is coming to life at Launch Bay, where the community draws from Hobsonville Point’s rich history to create one of the most exceptional architectural statements on Auckland Harbour.
Winton has a precise vision for this truly unique development in Auckland’s North West. The Plant People are excited to be a part of the journey as the land transitions from its rich military heritage to a dynamic and luxurious new suburb.
Says Matt of Winton, “The Plant People deliver high-quality workmanship at our Launch Bay community to ensure it always looks its best.
I have found them to be very professional and extremely easy to deal with. With Mo on the ground full time, they communicate clearly and efficiently, allowing us to make informed and quick decisions.”
Everything we’re doing here at Launch Bay is geared towards ensuring that the landscape maintenance presentation is at its peak, every day.
Digitally connected, Mo is able to communicate on the fly with Winton. This ensures decisions are reached immediately and action is taken swiftly.
For example, we recently had a large ti tree fall down in a notch of native bush. An action plan, costing and photos were sent through to Winton for approval. With the go-ahead secured, our team was able to clean the site of the felled tree, including tidying up any other damaged plants and debris. All with an absolute minimum of disruption to the development.
This high level of efficiency helps Winton maintain a premium residential product for its discerning market.
Launch Bay includes a number of features accessible to the public, including boardwalks, tracts of native plantings, the playground is positioned adjacent to a green belt that connects the east and west sides to the development. Additionally, there are significant historical points of interest that have been preserved to allow for future generations to learn about the rich background of the Hobsonville Point area.
The Plant People’s turf maintenance team provides a regular programme of contract lawn mowing to service these open spaces. This includes seed sewing for small turf repairs, fertiliser and weed control programmes. Where pockets of native bush meet manicured turf, we’re keeping on top of Kikuyu grass so that it doesn’t infiltrate the more picturesque tall fescue lawns. All to ensure Launch Bay’s turf is always presented at its finest.
Part of what makes this development so unique is the number of buildings that formerly provided accommodation for Naval Officers in a bygone era. Now comprehensively restored and sectioned off on ~1,100m2 plots, these iconic family homes have recently been released to the market. Until such time as they’re sold, The Plant People have been tasked with landscape maintenance tasks. As the jewels in the Launch Bay crown, these spectacular properties are being maintained with the ultimate in care and precision: first impressions are all important to these property’s high-end target market.
