Overlooking beautiful Lake Wanaka, this incredible property was one we couldn't wait to get started on. Designing a multi functional, dream outdoor space for our clients was an absolute pleasure. Working with this impressive backdrop and the architecturally designed home that sat on this site, we were able to capture the essence of the natural landscapes and envision a sustainable, yet enjoyable landscape design concept for our clients. 

Our clients wanted to ensure their luxury property fitted in with Central Otago and specified formal gardens to go with their high end home. We achieved this with the local schist walls - giving off that alpine feel that almost all of the historical buildings here are constructed from and softening these with layering our planting and boxed hedges with straight lines that scream formal garden. The natural colour schemes used were reflective of the environment surrounding the property, the browns of the mountains in the schist both spread on the ground in areas and the random stones in the walls, along with the Kwila decking and the deep greens of the trees bordering the lakes edge reflected in the plant design with pastel coloured flowers to break it up and give it some life. 

Although initially the steep sloping site appeared to be a bit of a challenge, It was paramount that we designed different entertaining areas as Wanaka can have some windy days and our clients wanted to enjoy their different outdoor living spaces throughout the year. The internal courtyard provides a perfect spot to escape from the wind and also get the big open outdoor fire cranking with a mulled wine in hand after a day on the ski field. 

Overall our clients were extremely happy with the outcome of both our work on the design and construction and will enjoy their landscaping for many years to come.
