The owners of this lovely old villa in a leafy Melbourne suburb wanted to renovate their kitchen and bathrooms and they had reasonably conservative tastes, they said "give us two safe colours and one out-there colour." Of course the purple was the out-there colour, but after talking it through with them they agreed with me, which is great because I think the space really needed it.

I extended the kitchen to open up onto a large dining room, and focused on creating highly functional working zones. Stainless steel appliances, toe kicks and hardware accent the clean, modern lines of this kitchen. The deep, rich hue of the purple splash back is a fantastic contrast to the crisp white cabinetry and bench tops.

The main bathroom has floor to ceiling porcelain tiles, with a luxurious free standing bath. The same tiles and coloured unit is carried through to their ensuite.
