Manhattan on Belmore banner

Inspired by the industrial loft style living in Manhattan, with raw materiality in the Flemish bond recycled brick, Tasmanian Oak lined ceilings, steel beams and reclaimed timber, the homeowners also wanted to include tones of green within this new build. A home where the family could absorb itself into the city lifestyle or relax close to the adjacent (Wollongong) harbour.

Designed externally and internally with family at the heart of the brief. This new home build (by owner-builders) offers the family multi zoned living – all connected through the key living areas, weather relaxing by the fire, enjoying entertaining in the kitchen, relaxing in the mezzanine or watching the kids having a game of basketball these areas are all vantage points from the living zones.

Whilst the external facade highlights traditional methods in its Flemish bond laid brickwork with featured corbel work sitting comfortably alongside modern materials in the Colorbond providing a contemporary look. This brickwork is also featured within the internal living spaces connecting the outside in.

Internally the materiality includes robust and fit-for purpose in the Fenix joinery, Basaltina porcelain, polished concrete flooring, that deliver a liveable and connected home designed for family living. A lush colour scheme that offers a calm and grounding ambience in key high traffic areas.

Thoughtful design and considered layered materiality have ensured a cohesive flow within the living spaces and clever zoning to ensure that the kitchen is the anchor and a place to gather and connect.
