Like arriving at a resort, the design principle was set up to be a journey, entering through a gate house and walking along a boardwalk to your accomodation and entertainment spaces with views through the landscape and buildings across the pool to the ocean. Mass was positioned in the walls and in the roof to prevent thermal overloading and also to make the buildings secure in cyclones The building elements were isolated aesthetically, so you could read the solid plastered concrete walls from the traditional timber roof and ceiling structures, isolated by the negative detailed concrete tie beams.
