Woods & Warner sensitively renovated the Master suite of this historic terrace overlooking New South Wales’s Barangaroo. The objective was to design a bedroom and bathroom that explored traditional techniques of design whilst introducing moments of a bold & New York style theme. The light compromised and small footprint added a genuine challenge to the build and design.

The intricacy of black & white tessellated marble floors enjoys the strength of green bevelled subway wall tiles. Lined in the open niches are Bisazza’s King 20 Gold blend mosaics which are fashioned with a 24kt gold leaf between two projective layers of glass.

To add to the luxury of this bathroom the walls were injected with Mr Steam’s “liner steamhead”. The streamlined flush to the wall system creates an inverted waterfall of steam that cascades gently upwards into the shower. The racked ceiling is lined with small black mosaics to ensure every moment of the steam experience is condensation free.

A custom moulded Calacutta Verde marble basin dominates its floating green cabinetry below providing a glorious & sumptuous visual treat on the eye.

The handcrafted brass & mirror cabinet was inspired by a concept image provided by Woods & Warner to be cleverly installed by the building team. The final piece of jewellery to the bathroom was vintage wall sconces that added the final touch of indulgence to this suite.

The bedroom desire was to introduce a grand light filled approachable bedroom with an abundance of storage. Each wall was lined with custom moulded joinery with mirrored inserts to bounce light throughout the room. The subtle wallpaper on the ceiling was used to blend into the joinery to provide an illusion of a limitless ceiling line. The furniture & soft furnishings are opulent & equally delicate which nods at the ornamental qualities of the rest of the home. Details are sprinkled through trimmings, fringes, hand stitched bedspreads & identified beatifically in a colour palette of co-ordinated shades of green, black & white.

Whilst materials are heavy & bold the elements of traditional design & craftsmanship are present and ensure this design pays respect to a home inside of Australia’s architectural history.
