Meninya Street ‘The Heart of Moama’.

In early 2019, LMLA (now THLA) completed the Landscape Masterplan Concept for Meninya Street as sub-consultants to Terrior on the Moama Bridge Arts Precinct Project. Since 2019 there has been significant progress and changes in Moama. The new Echuca – Moama bridge has opened, and Meninya Street has become a council asset. The traffic conditions have changed, and there is an opportunity to re-shape the way Meninya Street is used.

We have developed high-quality concept plans with a streetscape vision that creates a sense of place along Meninya Street. The design is pedestrian-oriented and supports future economic stimulation and activity. The streetscape design encourages the daytime / night-time economy, pop-up markets, tourist activity and connections with surrounding points of interest.

Our plans for 1 kilometre of Meninya Street, were lead by landscape architects and supported by civil engineers. Our creative and practical design proposed:

  • a new road alignment, kerb design, traffic Islands, car parking, entry / exit points to side streets, and blisters.
  • landscape treatments within median, footpaths, pedestrian crossings, outdoor dining spaces, multi-function spaces such as pop-up market area.
  • A separated 2-way bike lane connecting to existing tracks and trails
  • street lighting and considered future and existing services
  • commercial developments such as an express supermarket, shop-top accommodation, pop-up spaces, laneway developments and market spaces
  • restaurants and bars etc.
