A thoughtfully crafted heritage villa renovation in Mt Eden by Rogan Nash Architects that combines original character with playful contemporary interiors designed for modern family living.

Located in Mt Eden, Auckland, Fox in Socks is a carefully considered heritage villa renovation that transforms a traditional character home into a warm, contemporary family sanctuary. The design respects the home's original architectural heritage while introducing generous new living spaces that support the changing rhythms of everyday life.

The original villa has been thoughtfully restored, preserving its timber detailing, generous proportions and enduring street presence. Beyond the heritage rooms, a contemporary addition creates an open-plan kitchen, dining and living pavilion that connects effortlessly to the garden, providing spaces that are equally suited to family life, entertaining and quiet retreat.

At the heart of the home is a beautifully crafted kitchen where bespoke joinery, natural materials and carefully considered detailing create a welcoming place for gathering. Large openings invite sunlight deep into the interior and strengthen the relationship between the home and its outdoor living spaces, allowing the landscape to become part of the everyday experience.

Throughout the renovation, a rich palette of timber, natural stone, colour and texture creates interiors that feel both timeless and full of personality. Carefully integrated custom joinery, considered storage and finely crafted details ensure every space is both beautiful and highly functional, while playful moments add warmth and individuality to the home.

Fox in Socks demonstrates how a heritage villa can be respectfully reimagined for contemporary family living. By balancing restoration with contemporary architecture, the project creates a home that feels connected to its history while embracing the needs of modern life, resulting in a timeless renovation that will be enjoyed for generations.
