Community Centre Landscape Project:
A landscape which provides for flood protection, site context and space for weekend farmers markets. The design for the Community Centre included Rip Rap rock as flood protection to the beautifully crafted building. Large deck spaces ensure outdoor space for cafe seating, pilates and yoga classes, weddings and children’s’ groups. The large entrance plaza includes paving patterns inspired by the Tuatua Kaimoana found in the adjacent estuary. Planting is a combination of native Pohutukawa and flowering Cherry trees providing a connection to the War Memorial aspect of the centre.
