Accessed via a rough 4WD track, the completely off grid home in the hills above Featherston in the Wairarapa, is a welcoming and private retreat for its owner. Powered entirely by an array of solar panels high above the house that is stored in a large bank of batteries, the house is fully self sufficient. A high degree of insulation keeps it cosy and a large wood stove in the open plan lounge/kitchen provides heating when needed.
