Over the past 18 months we have been undertaking what can only be described as one of the largest private residential heritage projects to be undertaken in Auckland over the last decade.

Months and months of planning, scheduling and budgeting were required to get this project underway.

We began by lifting & temp proping the existing 100+ year old home +300 above its FFL to give us room to slide the home backwards. At the same time we began building a towering 12m high temporary SED foundation at the back of the property.

Once ready and dozens of safety checks had been done, we began to slide the home of its foundation and back approx 24m, to allow us room to safely and efficently dig down 3.4m and create an entire additional 230m2 level.

This level would accomodate a new wine cellar, movie room, music room, guest bedroom with ensuite, kids rumpus & a spacious 3 car garage! topped off with a 2m2 lift shaft that would give access from basement to all 3 levels threw the middle of the home.

After 8 months of hard work threw the winter, we succesfully re landed the home back on its new foundations within just 7mm of its old foundation (under budget) and on time. Now considering not one wall fo the existing home is square or true this was quite the acheivement and took some real patience and care to do.

Once landed and connected to the new foundation, we then turned our attention to the major re construction & restoration of the exisitng home. With extensions to the back of house on all 3 levels & traditional & classic new verandah to the front the house began to take shape & reveal its beauty.

All the exisitng windows were removed and replaced new, with the addition of a few more beautiful look outs. Some of the exterior was removed and switched to a classic western red cedar shingle finish. 70% of the home was re built due to us wanting to bring the home up to the current building code.

The roof of the home was a huge challenge due to the many pitch & level changes, and needing it to flow with the original roof.

We have just removed the scaffolds (August 2020) as you can see in the pictures and are now focused on completing the lower level exterior works. At the same time the major interior package has begun designed by Bespoke Interiors with some great cabinetry systems the interior is sure to be a real classic.

We have currently been on this project for 18months and believe it will be a further 8months to complete.

Stay tuned! #qbsit
