R Hotel Geelong.

The R Hotel development combined the historic facade of the old Ritz Hotel in Geelong. Restoring the old Hotel and incorporating the heritage features for the lower hotel levels, the hotel sweeps up into a modern building with balconies that overlook the Botanical Gardens and Geelong's picturesque Bay.

Bluelab Design worked with Mark Gratwick Architects and SPA Consulting to provide a unique, comfortable and unique lighting design. we also, designed the feature entry chandelier and bedside lighting for each room.

The Custom Pendant is visible from street level through a double height void with windows. We used crystal in a classic elongated modern chandelier.

Linear corridor lighting with motion sensors illuminate the corridors, incorporating room numbers offering a duel purpose. The linear lights were wired to motion sensors.

This minimalist lighting solution provided an opportunity to show case other features such as artwork of local scenery.

The hotel room lighting was simplistic and minimal. Opting for lighting where the guest needed lighting rather than over illuminating the space. Custom bedside lights designed by the Interior Designer, produced by Bluelab in a finish to tie in with the room finishes. Bathroom wall lights either side of the mirror wash over the room. Minimal downlights with a gold reflector maintain a warm comfortable atmosphere.

Given the Bayside location Bluelab provided Marine Grade exterior lighting from the Fairhaven Range along with recessed linear exterior ceiling mounted LED on the upper balconies.
