The project goal was to improve the heat within the large living space, utilising the existing fireplace opening and make the space more inviting. The old low heat output open gas fireplace was removed and replaced with a high heat output Stovax Studio 2 inbuilt wood fire. A brick surround with matching hearth was built around the fireplace to meet the non-combustible requirements and soften the firebox , then finished with a steel mantel.
