Remuera House.

This home is on a compact rear site, with spectacular water and urban landscape views to the north. The home was designed for a couple with children ready to leave home, so the house is primarily designed as their haven, and a place to entertain family and friends.

The brief required a swimming pool, and this was placed along the north boundary so that it enhances the views beyond, and receives all day sun. The main living areas span the width of the site, with oversized sliding doors enabling a seamless flow to the covered terrace. A snug evening lounge sits adjacent, with intimate views into a garden courtyard.

The bedrooms are placed above, with the principal bedroom suite facing the views including a lounge area for the owners to relax.

The house has a classic modernist form, with a mix of timber, white render and travertine stone claddings creating material interest both to the exterior and interior of the home.
