Renowned Dunedin architect Ted McCoy designed the original house for the owners in the 1970s. The property takes full advantage of its location for sun and boasts a tranquil setting with bushclad views to the north of Dunedin. Gray Brothers and Mason and Wales Architects combined to renovate this elegant property and have provided the owners with a sumptuous modern residence. New falls and cladding on leaking flatroof areas and double glazed windows with flashings made the house totally watertight again. External block work was plastered for extra weather protection and the interior was stripped. New insulation, under tile heating and a heat pump were added to make this a very cosy home.

“In 2004 we contracted Mark Ward and his company, Gray Brothers Builders to carry out a major renovation of the kitchen and living area of our home. Mark communicated with us regularly about progress and decisions we needed to make. This meant that any over-runs in time and variations in price were advised early. The variations in time and cost were mainly down to the age of the house and decisions made once building begun. Mark worked very well with the architect, and consulted him whenever there was a query about any part of the plan. Mark also co- coordinated the subcontractors effectively. Gray Brothers Builders worked to a high standard and our renovations are still looking superb after more than 5 years. The builders were pleasant and thoughtful to have in a home environment.”
