A contemporary pavilion seamlessly connects to a heritage-listed Chapman-Taylor house, featuring a glazed 'time tunnel' that harmonizes past and present while enhancing the home's character with a new chef's kitchen and inviting outdoor spaces.
Designer Peter Were devised a contemporary pavilion linked to a heritage-listed Chapman-Taylor house by a glazed “time tunnel” traversing past and future. Referencing the architectural syntax of the 1923 Arts & Crafts home, the addition preserves the historic house’s distinctive character by using a palate of shadows for the 2018 pavilion. A new chef’s kitchen at the pavilion’s heart opens onto sheltered outdoor rooms and more secluded intimate courtyards flanking the glazed link.
Peter’s understated architecture and landscape designs make new gardens, pottagers, pergolas and patios intrinsic parts of the revitalised home's generous and welcoming ambiance.
