Transforming a drab plot into a vibrant outdoor STEAM learning garden featuring a winding water rill, designed to enhance student engagement in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

This began as a drab plot of dirt that included an appealing, but lonely, mosaic-clad sculpture. A new classroom had been built dedicated to STEAM learning that faced directly onto this space.

The brief was to create an outdoor learning area where students can gather and engage in activities that include studying and growing food plants. The winding water rill, with its interesting geometry, is a central feature that provides a basis for engaging in science, technology, engineering, art and maths.

“Not only does Gary have an amazing ability to turn vague ideas into a beautiful landscape plan, he is also such a pleasure to work with. With the help of Gary, we've been able to plan a much more appealing and usable backyard than we could have imagined, that all ties in beautifully with our surroundings.”
