Comprehensive refurbishment and service upgrades at Sydney Town Hall, enhancing heritage spaces while ensuring compliance with modern safety standards and integrating renewable energy solutions.

Client: City of Sydney

Awards:

  • AIA, NSW Chapter Awards
  • National Trust NSW Heritage Award

The Sydney Town Hall project required upgrading of services to comply with the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and the Place of Public Entertainment (POPE) licensing requirements. This included fire safety issues and new mechanical services throughout. The project also included the refurbishment of several principal historic spaces including the Lady Mayoress Suite; the Councillors’ offices; upgrading of staff offices; and the corridors. Heritage conservation work included the historic marble and encaustic tile floors in the corridors. Discretely placed solar-generated power for Sydney Town Hall was also installed as part of the “Sustainable Sydney 2030” plan for the implementation of renewable energy technologies.
