Team FA Office.

A small office fit-out for a financial adviser and his staff.

The space is a south-facing ground floor tenancy in a mixed-use building and was purchased bare, with no fixtures finishes, or dividing walls.

The brief was for a simple layout that created a sense of space whilst introducing some of the warmth and texture not typical in a commercial office. The office is located below a row of residential units and their balconies which meant a series of low-hanging drainage pipes and a large concrete column had to be incorporated. The simple plan divides the space into entry/reception area, private office, open office space and storage/utility area.

Materials and finishes have been selected to provide some warmth and texture to offset the largely black and white colour scheme. Rough-sawn painted cladding and oak flooring pair with exposed electrical services and painted blockwork. The low bulkhead that runs the length of the space is softened by providing a rake toward the top of the street front glazing. A simple chevron pattern is employed on the frame-less glass dividing wall and continues with an open bottom to the reception area. The project had a very small budget so when specifying frame-less door hardware the owner was happy to try something different and use shower door hardware that looks great at a fraction of the price.
