The King’s Head

People are often quick to assume it’s the husbands who are the driving force behind getting a Little Pub - perhaps it’s because it’s likened to the idea of a “mancave”. In fact, it is about a 50/50 split, and in the case of The King’s Head, it was entirely driven by Maria. When asked “what made you decide to get a Little Pub?” Maria’s response was, “It came down to… do we get a new kitchen or a Little Pub and I thought, argh the kitchen can wait - best decision ever!”

Maria & Stu were first introduced to My Little Pub in Kia Ora Magazine while on an Air New Zealand flight one day. It wasn't until six months later that Maria decided to get in touch. We had a lot of fun in the planning and discussion phase of The King's Head - there were many ideas for what the Little Pub needed to include, such as a dart board for Stu, which was later swapped for a poker table. However, it was a visit to The Moray Inn, another Waikato-based Little Pub, which helped Maria & Stu get a good feel for what theirs could be like and what features would work best for them. From that point on, we were all very excited to see it come to life!

“Our experience has been second to none right from the first interaction. The team at My Little Pub have been incredibly easy to work with, super friendly and kept us informed all the way along. Nothing has been a problem, they are very easy to engage with and seeing The King’s Head for the first time at the Fieldays was indeed a dream come true. The workmanship, attention to detail and finish is absolutely top notch, I can’t fault a thing. I am like: 5 stars, double thumbs up, would highly recommend!

The best thing has been seeing people’s reactions when they see it for the first time. We didn’t really tell anyone we were getting a Little Pub, so when we’ve arranged a get together and tell people to ‘just come around the side of the house to the deck’ their reactions have been absolutely priceless!  The King’s Head is indeed a popular venue whether it’s Book Club, the upcoming Oktoberfest or a night watching the rugby, any opportunity to unlock the door and turn on the lights, we’re in!- Maria

This Little Pub is a gold model Little Irish Pub with platinum upgrades. Its upgrades include stained glass windows, a fireplace with a tiled plinth and mantel, and double front doors. You might be wondering which "King" is being referred to. Well, as you may have noticed on the hanging sign out front, the King is, in fact, their beloved cat!

If you’re in the Waikato region and considering a Little Pub, both Maria and Stu, as well as Bruce and Margaret of The Moray Inn, have extended an open invitation to come and visit, have a dram, and chat. There’s nothing quite like experiencing the magic of being inside one yourself.

We absolutely loved working with Maria and Stu and look forward to visiting The King’s Head ourselves in the not-too-distant future!
