An unusual site in a stunning location led to this unique design. The house sits on a small knoll, near the crest of a hill side. The single-story front of house orientates to the stunning landscape from the Crown Range in the Northeast to and Coronet Peak in the Northwest. The land at the rear drops away to create a two-story house, with an entry courtyard allowing for garaging under the house, plus additional guest rooms and an art studio.
Upstairs is the main living area, master suite and guest suite.
The “T” shaped floor plan allows for private courtyards to on both the east and west, with pergola shading. This pergola combined with the overhanging roof avoids summer overheating, whilst providing shelter to sit outside.
Materials are comprised of Flaxpod Colorsteel cladding, combined with natural cedar, Sto plaster, and Schist stone landscaping walls. The bespoke garden shed is cedar, and macrocarpa with a Flaxpod Colorsteel roof.
Interiors have a minimal backdrop of Resene Alabaster, oak veneer and white joinery, with oak engineered wood flooring from Haro. The Stovax fire sits within a bespoke concrete hearth with hidden wood and implement storage.
