Contemporary

Work on this contemporary apartment was conducted entirely via zoom as Covid lockdowns continued to interrupt the design process. We were also limited in our access to accurate floor plans and thus had to work from a real estate floor plan (which was unsurprisingly inaccurate), resulting in multiple challenges during the design and install process. This called for our signature calm and creative approach to the many challenges encountered in the design process.

The brief for this space was that it had to be homely but still glamorous with a focus on the view. The client, an avid skier, desired a "mountain vibes" aesthetic. We stopped well short of incorporating the cliched moose head and opted instead for pieces that supported a luxe, eclectic aesthetic with our signature splashes of colour and texture, reminiscent of a cosy mountain chalet.

About the
Professional

Jacque Yates has forged an interior design career deeply influenced by her own lived experiences and dedication to crafting meaningful and functional  environments for her clients.

Colour has always been a fundamental focal point for Jacque, an area in which she possesses innate flair for creating intentional and unexpected clashes of hue, texture and pattern.

With an early career in the field of calligraphy and ceramics, Jacque developed an early passion for form and detail. During a 7 year stint in New York, she immersed herself in an intense period of study at the world renowned Parsons School of Design and The New School, ultimately shifting her creative focus to interior decorating and design. Inspired by the dynamic use of colour in her own New York home, Jacque’s friends began to commission her to re-imagine their own residences.

There is an undeniable resonance in the studio’s work that combines Jacque’s innate desire to connect with her clients, to infuse their homes with narrative and soul and to have fun in the process.

Propelled by her early success in New York, Jacque embarked on the significant renovation of her own Queen Anne home upon her return to Sydney and later another home in Melbourne; garnering significant experience in all aspects of the design and construction process. After completing multiple diplomas at International School of Colour & Design (ISCD), Jacque founded Three Little Pigs Colour & Design in 2005.

She is also an ardent supporter of Australian designers and suppliers, a priority that is evident in all aspects of her work. Having recently added a Certificate IV in Kitchen and Bathroom Design to her academic résumé, Jacque is also armed with comprehensive, technical know-how. As a result, her portfolio of work transcends mere trends, ensuring that each project is as practical as it is visually alluring.
