A SHOWCASE ON LISLAND DRIVE:THE UNIQUE DESIGN PROJECT
The moment we saw this unique design come through our inbox, we instantly knew we wanted to be involved in this project! With the unusual wedge shape of the house designed to make the best use of the section's space and the full-height tilt panel walls, it was destined to be a showcase on Lisland Drive, Kinloch.
After meeting with Kerry and Sara, we quickly realised they were not your typical clients. With considerable building experience, they were more than comfortable discussing their vision for the project, from the intricate timber imprint in the concrete walls to the beautifully finished copper splashback in the kitchen.
Given their large family and love for entertaining, it was crucial to design a house that could comfortably accommodate and withstand a lot of people. With the design well taken care of by Boon Architects, Beck Building was able to offer suggestions for the materials used on-site to best meet the criteria. Hard-wearing oak plywood was used for all the interior walls, which helps minimise the risk of dents over time. Grooved MDF with battens was used on the ceiling as a unique detail, eliminating the risk of cracks occurring in the ceiling over the years.
With the project now complete and being well-used by family, extended family, and friends, we are delighted to still remain in contact with Kerry and Sara. We're thrilled to hear how happy they are with the end result and that the house regularly accommodates large gatherings with ease
