Comprehensive expansion of Wither Hills Winery, enhancing capacity from 6,000 to 15,000 tonnes, including new facilities and infrastructure completed by early 2016.
CLIENT: Wither Hills
LOCATION: Marlborough
COMPLETED: January 2016
In 2009 Wither Hills Winery engaged Apollo Projects to manage all aspects of an on-going expansion programme, expanding their capacity from 6,000 to 15,000 tonnes.
Gaining resource consent for the expansion has been a significant part of Apollo’s involvement to date, along with the design and build of various areas to allow reorganisation in preparation for the main expansion project, including the installation of a new effluent treatment plant of 15,000 tonne capacity.
The existing lab, tasting area and winery offices have all been extended along with completion of landscaping, parking and new roading. Apollo have built a new receivals and press bay, and relocated all of the receivals and press plant to the new location. We have also built the first stage of the new red cellar and external tank slab, where the receivals & press bay used to be, in readiness for the next phase of expansion.
Construction of the white tank hall and fruit cellar started in October 2014 and was completed early 2016 in time for the harvest.
