A restrained plant palette blended with thoughtful garden accents combine to enhance the crisp white exterior of this striking home in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.

The architecturally designed two-storey house required a garden design that was both minimal and refined. Layers of hedging were installed to create formal frames and bring a clean and elegant uniformity. Cupressus sempervirens ‘glauca’ (Italian Pencil Pines) at the entrance iterate this sense of formality and add a vertical element that speaks to the height of the house.

We selected grey granite cobbles for the driveway, lined with Pyrus calleryana ‘Capital’ (Ornamental Pear Trees) on one side, to create a seasonal avenue that blooms in spring and turns to red as the leaves change in autumn. Our design team also introduced a Lamarque Rose climber along the front of the house to soften the exterior and link it to the garden.

Waterhousea floribunda (Weeping Lilly Pilly) was planted along the fence line to shield neighbouring houses and create privacy in the swimming pool area.

Pepo collaborated with Carla Middleton Architecture and M&G Building throughout the project. This helped to ensure indoor and outdoor elements were jointly considered and that practical requirements – like soil improvement – were deliberately undertaken at crucial stages of the build.

The resulting sanctuary is heavenly. A contemporary and fresh design with classic undertones that highlights the beauty of nature and the serenity it offers.

Pepo Botanic Design is widely recognised as a bespoke design studio with an emphasis on unique plant choices and sculptural additions. Our landscape architects take the time to listen to you and develop an intuitive feel for the possibilities when designing each individual space, making it one of the more unique gardening services in Sydney.

Once a garden is established, our maintenance team prides itself on respectfully tending to and nourishing lawns, plants and gardens with expert horticultural care.

Our Story

Talented visual artist Nicola Cameron established Pepo in 2000, looking to weave her experience in photography and film into a different and creative living medium. Landscape design and horticulture provided the perfect platform to conceive her beautiful creations, passion for unique design aesthetics, and love of plants.

In 2007, Nicola’s husband James Perkin was appointed Construction Manager of Pepo, joining a team of specialists dedicated to turning a client’s dream into a practical and beautiful reality.

Hundreds of alluring gardens, courtyards, balconies, and rural retreats have been brought to life since the business began and the team continues to provide a premium landscape architectural service, brimming with creativity and inspiration every day.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
