By Pepo Botanic Design
‘Uplifting and bold’ best describe not only this Woollahra garden but the character of its most recent celebrity visitor who relaxed within its surroundings.
Working within a tight timeframe, Pepo was tasked with the job of bringing this formerly tired space back to life, in time for the special guest’s arrival.
The resulting design is lush and generous, with a distinct touch of flamboyance.
A beautiful highlight is the bright, show-stopping Bougainvillea which adorns the large verandah: its red hue chosen by the property’s owner, to add a dazzle of colour and match the home’s front door.
Secluded pockets within the garden are tucked behind masses of luxuriant foliage.
The large glossy leaves of the Ligularia reniformis create visual interest, while the Cotinus coggygria ‘Grace’ provides depth.
We selected rusted tones to complement the greenery and variegated hues. This palette was brightened by soft yellows, of which the native Anigozanthos (Kangaroo paw) is a feature, and additionally adds an element of intrigue.
The garden continues to sing – thriving under the care of Pepo’s professional horticulturists. With its immaculately manicured foliage, soothing pool and scented Gardenia ‘Professor Pucci’, this Woollahra garden has earned its rightful place as the perfect, private sanctuary.

Our Story
Talented visual artist Nicola Cameron established Pepo in 2000, looking to weave her experience in photography and film into a different and creative living medium. Landscape design and horticulture provided the perfect platform to conceive her beautiful creations, passion for unique design aesthetics, and love of plants.
In 2007, Nicola’s husband James Perkin was appointed Construction Manager of Pepo, joining a team of specialists dedicated to turning a client’s dream into a practical and beautiful reality.
Hundreds of alluring gardens, courtyards, balconies, and rural retreats have been brought to life since the business began and the team continues to provide a premium landscape architectural service, brimming with creativity and inspiration every day.
