In the ever-evolving landscape of kitchen design, the quest for innovation and luxury has reached new heights. Consumer expectations have risen significantly in recent years, with a growing demand for multifunctional taps offering various forms of filtered water. Sparkling water, in particular, has seen a surge in popularity, making it a crucial element in residential tap design.
The latest innovation, the Celsius Plus All-In-One Pull-Out, addresses these demands by providing filtered boiling, chilled, and sparkling options in one tap, along with the convenience of hot and cold water and a snag-free pull-out sprayer.
To understand the groundbreaking technology behind this advanced tap system, we spoke to Daniel Cuthbert, Country Manager from Zenith Water, the company responsible for the Celsius Plus All-In-One Pull-Out’s design and development.
Developing a tap system with multiple water functionalities poses numerous challenges.
"We wanted to ensure that each water type consistently delivers the desired taste and temperature," Cuthbert explains.
The Celsius Plus All-In-One Pull-Out tackles this challenge with separate water paths for chilled, boiling, and mixer water while the innovative aerator in the spout improves sparkling water delivery.
The ability to integrate all drinking water needs in one tap – whether it's boiling, chilled or sparkling – eliminates the need for additional taps and appliances, ultimately decluttering benchtops and delivering functional versatility.
With the inclusion of a pull-out sprayer generally used for food preparation and washing dishes and sinks, the Celsius Plus All-In-One Pull-Out introduces a Hose Management System to eliminate the snagging issues commonly associated with pull-out hoses.
The heart of Zenith HydroTaps, including the Celsius Plus All-In-One Pull-Out, lies in its filtration process, which guarantees pure-tasting water. The Zenith MicroPurity filtration technology is certified to reduce chlorine, taste, odour, bacteria, sediment, and limescale, meeting stringent NSF 42 and Watermark requirements.
This ensures that the drinking water, whether boiling, chilled, or sparkling, is of the highest quality – free from contaminants.
"Only genuine Zenith filters can offer this level of protection, with a 99.9% reduction of cysts, including cryptosporidium and giardia, and a 98.9% lead reduction to NSF 53 standards,” shares Cuthbert.
The integration of the Celsius Plus All-In-One Pull-Out aligns seamlessly with current sustainability trends.
“With our unique technology using an advanced air-cooling system and integrating smart energy-saving modes that power down the unit in low-use or non-use times, our HydroTaps conserve more water and energy than any other equivalent product,” says Cuthbert.
The entire life cycle of each HydroTap has also been carefully considered to reduce its environmental impact – from the sourcing and processing of raw materials through to ongoing operation, maintenance and filter changes, and finally at the end of the product’s life.
Another standout feature of the HydroTap is its contribution to reducing single-use plastic waste. By offering sparkling water on demand, the tap eliminates the need for bottled sparkling water.
"Stopping the use of single-use plastics is among the most important things you can do to reduce your impact on the environment."
Smart technology plays a pivotal role in enhancing the user experience of HydroTaps.
Zenith HydroTaps all feature a boiling water safety lock, meaning they require a dual action to dispense boiling water, reducing the likelihood of accidentally activating the boiling water.
The taps remain cool to the touch and spluttering steam is eliminated, ensuring a safe user experience.
Zenith HydroTaps also track filter and CO2 usage, alerting users when replacements are needed. Customisation options, such as temperature settings and dispensing volume adjustments, further cater to individual preferences.
In creating the HydroTap Celsius Plus All-In-One Pull-Out, a delicate balance was struck between aesthetics and advanced technological features.
“When designing the new HydroTap Celsius Plus All-In-One Pull-Out, we wanted to create a centrepiece for the modern kitchen,” shares Cuthbert. “To make sure it reflected a modern, minimalist style, we integrated the pull-out sprayer into the spout and added seamless features like a boiling water safety lock that automatically activates when the sprayer is in use.”
As with the rest of HydroTap range, the Celsius Plus All-In-One Pull-Out comes in seven modern finishes to suit any kitchen aesthetic.
The HydroTap Celsius Plus All-In-One Pull-Out stands as a testament to the marriage of luxury, sustainability, and cutting-edge technology in the realm of tap design. As consumer demands continue to evolve, innovative solutions like the HydroTap redefine the possibilities of what a tap can offer, elevating the ordinary to the extraordinary in both form and function.
