Beyond mere functional elements, kitchen hardware choices have transcended utility to become pivotal components in defining the overall design narrative. From antique brass reclaiming its place in contemporary kitchens to sophisticated textured handles matching the cabinetry, tactile elements elevate the sensory experience of modern kitchens.

From sleek and minimalist to ornate and detailed, the kitchen cabinet hardware landscape embodies a fusion of tradition and innovation, with a focus on individual expression, functionality and design preferences. Wonderful colours meet exciting textures to redefine the very essence of the kitchen, transforming it into a stylish haven where form meets function in perfect harmony.

As kitchens continue to evolve into multifunctional spaces, these trends redefine the aesthetics of the hub of the home, making it a canvas for personal style and design experimentation.

One of the trends for kitchen cabinets in 2023 is choosing handles as opposed to having cabinetry without handles, according to Furnware Group. With its extensive range of handles, the wholesaler offers a myriad of styles to suit any kitchen design and personal taste.

“We're finding that more and more people want to inject a bit of personality onto the cabinetry by using our cabinet handles,” says Marc Bennett, Marketing Director of Furnware Group.

Texture takes centre stage in hardware design this year, with handles featuring 3D effects, such as intricate patterns, ridges or embossed details. This trend adds a tactile dimension to kitchen furniture, creating curiosity to touch and visual interest beyond the usual smooth surfaces.

Departing from traditional linear designs, geometric shapes have conquered residential homes. Hexagonal, circular, or asymmetrical handles bring a playful and contemporary vibe to kitchen spaces, pushing the boundaries of conventional design norms.

“The ribbed handle design has become popular in kitchen hardware, as it matches perfectly with textured kitchen joinery,” says Marc.

In terms of colours, Marc confirms that brass and gold handles are in high demand, however, with a shift to a more natural style of brass, such as antique brass and bronze.

Witnessing a revival, vintage brass hardware adds a touch of nostalgia to kitchens. The warm, aged patina of brass handles brings a timeless and sophisticated charm, appealing to those who appreciate the marriage of classic and contemporary design elements.

Designed in-house and exquisitely crafted, the solid brass Bellevue Collection adds style and pizzazz to any interior. The new line effect is an addition to the five exquisite finishes, including plain and knurled textures. The Bellevue Collection also includes an appliance pull, the perfect statement piece in a premium kitchen.

Exclusive to Momo Handles, also designed in-house, the signature Barrington Collection features a stunning ribbed texture, taking elements of inspiration from the Art Deco period. With its bold industrial flair and fine details, this range is a true eye-catcher. To create an even more impressive look and aesthetic, the Barrington backplate is an optional handle feature.

The exquisite solid brass Belgravia Collection captivates with its knurled detailing and is a show-stopping handle for discerning homeowners who want to create expressive interiors.

This Dover Heights home by Project / Y was converted from two semi-detached 1930s Art Deco dwellings into a single free-standing house. The extension at the back of the home features a spacious kitchen, including a three metre island bench, and a butler's pantry.

The mix of the dark polyurethane Shaker cabinetry, wood veneer and the matte brass Barrington Momo handles create a cohesive look and sophisticated, yet dramatic, vibe. The handles tie in perfectly with the chandelier, brass inlay marble splashback tiles and brass tapware.
