Creating the ultimate contemporary palette - a seamless canvas upon which to add character - can be difficult to achieve with the same product across all areas of a home, from the pool to interior walls. A new tile range inspired by the palaces of Milan offers just this.
Antibacterial tiles: eternal and invisible protection
The Pietra d’Iseo range incorporates a unique antibacterial shield technology that eliminates up to 99.9 per cent of bacteria from the surface of the tiles. “The result is a constantly protected surface with a high level of hygienic performance, unalterable by wear and tear and climatic conditions,” Carl says.
“It’s an invisible shield that is integrated into the tiles, and one that extends for the lifetime of the tiles - whether they are used inside or out - giving you ongoing protection.
“The base ingredient of the technology, known as PROTECT, is silver which is integrated permanently into the tiles during the industrial firing phase at temperatures of over 1200 °C. This makes it constantly active, day and night, 24-7, throughout the lifecycle of the product.”

For the contemporary high-end home, seamless integration between indoors and out ranks highly on the list of desired attributes. While in most cases, this can be achieved by pairing similar materials to create links between interior and exterior settings, it’s unusual to find a material suitable for both areas.
“That’s why this new Italian tile range stands out,” Casa Italiana’s Carl Whiteman says. “Known as Pietra d’Iseo, the floor and wall tile range incorporates a huge range of sizes, all of which can be used internally or externally to create a continuity of palette across an entire property.”
A complete design solution inspired by the palaces of Milan
The finish of the Pietra d’Iseo range is inspired by the typical Lombard stone, the Ceppo di Grè, which was used to build many of the palaces, villas and monuments that still characterise the appearance of Milan.
“The surface of the stone, with its irregular design and tone adds character and, at the same time, a sense of refinement to any environment,” Carl says.
Suitable for everything from kitchen benchtops and cabinetry to feature walls, walkways and poolscaping, the range offers a huge versatility of size and function while offering a striking aesthetic and design feature from which to work.
“Based on the Ceppo stone, which was formed through the ages between the rocks of Mount Clemo and the waters of Lake Iseo, the Pietra d’Iseo is capable of introducing individuality to any environment.”
