Antibacterial tiles: eternal and invisible protection

The Pietra d’Iseo range incorporates a unique antibacterial shield technology that eliminates up to 99.9 per cent of bacteria from the surface of the tiles. “The result is a constantly protected surface with a high level of hygienic performance, unalterable by wear and tear and climatic conditions,” Carl says.

“It’s an invisible shield that is integrated into the tiles, and one that extends for the lifetime of the tiles - whether they are used inside or out - giving you ongoing protection.

“The base ingredient of the technology, known as PROTECT, is silver which is integrated permanently into the tiles during the industrial firing phase at temperatures of over 1200 °C. This makes it constantly active, day and night, 24-7, throughout the lifecycle of the product.”

For the contemporary high-end home, seamless integration between indoors and out ranks highly on the list of desired attributes. The finish of the Pietra d’Iseo range is inspired by the typical Lombard stone, the Ceppo di Grè, which was used to build many of the palaces, villas and monuments that still characterise the appearance of Milan.
