LOOKING FOR CREATIVE AND STYLISH WAYS TO HEAT YOUR NEW HOME?

While you may have spent a lot of time and money perfecting your home's interior design, heating solutions that offer form over function may have taken a back seat.

But why should you settle for a practical heating solution when you can have a statement piece that adds both warmth and style to your home?

In this article, we showcase some creative indoor/outdoor fireplaces that have been put to stunning use in some of Landmark's innovative homes. We explore how a statement fireplace can not only provide comfort on those long winter nights but can also help add character, ambience and eye-catching flair!

FUNCTION MEETS DESIGN

With a focus on energy efficiency and new government guidelines on creating warm and healthy homes in New Zealand, most new properties have functional heating options like quality insulation, heat pumps or induction heating to keep their home cosy in the winter and cool in the summer.

But there is nothing quite like the ambient magic of gathering around a fireplace with a glass of wine at the end of a long day. In fact, fireplaces not only offer a cosy place to relax and unwind, but more people are choosing a statement fireplace to add a unique design element to their homes.

The impact of a thoughtfully designed fireplace can be seen in full effect in this award-winning Landmark Design and Build home in Taupō. This innovative two-sided Rinnai linear 1000 fireplace draws the eye to a cedar-clad central pillar that separates the lounge from the kitchen and dining area, creating a warm and cosy ambience that looks stunning in the daytime and even better at night.

Even if you have a smaller footprint, a statement fireplace can be a creative addition to the design of your home. Looking like a stunning piece of art, this panoramic, one-sided Rinnai Linear 1000 gas fire adds a sense of understated sophistication to the interior of Landmark's compact yet contemporary Rangitoto duplex design in Taupō.

Although small in stature, this Rinnai packs a punch in heating the second floor of this. With a versatile flue system, it is perfect for an array of spaces, from living rooms to open-plan areas and even bedrooms.

NEW TECHNOLOGIES

As with most new fireplaces, WIFI and smart home capabilities allow you to adjust the temperature to your needs and set a timer so your home will always be comfortable and cosy at the touch of a button.

Better technologies have also removed the worry of condensation or moisture. You can easily flue your fire out of your roof or install a power flue that goes through the wall, meaning you don't even need a chimney if that is your preferred look.

Moreover, if you are looking for a fire that does more than create ambience, you can install a ducted fire to heat your entire house centrally.

GO BIG OR GO HOME

But showstopping fireplaces don't have to be relegated to the inside as this stunning Flare outdoor fireplace at Landmark's innovative, family-friendly Showhome in Taupō's Ngā Roto Estate shows.

This exquisite and locally crafted Flare Outdoor Fireplace takes centre stage in this beautiful outdoor area. With council restrictions around what you can and can't do with an outdoor fire, this fire skirts these restrictions, doubling as a fire and an alfresco cooking area, perfect for entertaining on winter nights and hosting summer barbeques.

And while you may be concerned that some of the warmth will be lost, especially in some of New Zealand's colder climates, the innovative design of these fires means in addition to the heat generated by the fire itself, the surrounding concrete also warms, stopping any excess heat from escaping, meaning you and your guests will be toasty whatever the weather.

Whatever fireplace you have in mind for your new home, Landmark is at the forefront of innovation and design. Working with New Zealand companies like Rinnai or Escea Flare? we can find and install the perfect statement fireplace to suit your size, style and level of investment.
