As New Zealand’s only supplier of Bayferrox™ pigment, PeterFell's Black Oxide is backed by an internationally recognised and independently verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
EPDs have become the globally accepted way of clearly showing the environmental footprints of construction materials.
Our Bayferrox® Black Oxide EPD provides comprehensive information about its environmental performance throughout its entire life cycle, from the cradle to gate.
It is verified by the German Institut fur Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU), according to the international standard ISO 14025 and the European standard EN 15804.
With an increasing shift towards more environmentally friendly building practices, an EPD provides the industry with the transparent, verified data they need when planning a sustainable build.
It’s a credible basis for comparing the products of different oxide suppliers. Full transparency around the eco-profile of our Black Oxide means construction material manufacturers can optimise the eco-balance and life cycle assessment of their own products.
EPD-verified Black Oxide used on the production of building materials can positively influence their evaluation in the context of building certifications or public tenders. It can also be used by companies who are seeking sustainable certifications such as Green Star, LEED and BREEAM.
Global connections for a healthier planet.
Bayferrox®is part of Lanxess, a German-based specialty chemicals company that is committed to building a more sustainable world. The company has set 2040 as the deadline for being carbon neutral. It’s already making healthy advances towards that target at facilities around the world.
Declare labels are further proof of our commitment to sustainability.
Helping the industry build healthier, more sustainable and environmentally friendly spaces is a key driver here at PeterFell.
Our Black Oxide EPD is tangible proof of this. So is our Declare labelling.
A product only gets a Declare label when it meets stringent criteria around sustainability and social and environmental responsibilities.
Our Declare labelling gives designers, builders and homeowners the peace of mind of knowing our colours are completely safe for the construction process, the life of the building and the planet we live on.
